We're gettin' there!

Hi everyone! We haven't taken our first steps quite yet - but we're getting there! The "Pooh-mobile" from Grandma and Grandpa Willms is helping out... there's lots of buttons that make noise, too, so this is a winner! One of these days, hopefully, we'll be making a post that says we're walking! Apparently Karissa's not in a rush, so we'll just wait till she's good and ready... our luck she'll go ahead and do it while no one is looking!

Peek-a-boo!

Karissa loves to peek into the shower when someone is in there... She just stands there, pulls back the curtain, looks up and laughs :) She gets a little wet, of course, but has so much fun! (Don't worry, Christine, we won't let her in there when you're out to visit!)

Happy First Birthday Karissa!!

I'm pretty proud of this cake... yes, I decorated it myself! It was pretty time consuming, and yes, not quite perfect, but hey - does a one-year-old really care?
Karissa's first credit card! She got some money to spend on toys when we get home - helpful for those of us who have to pack everything in suitcases!!!
This was the start of the eating of the cake...
...and this was the end product! We had quite a show with a little girl on sugar! It was very loud, to say the least :) She had fun, though. And lo and behold, she slept all night long!
It has been a great trip out here - we're really sorry if we didn't get a chance to see some of you... of course the weather had to turn rotten in the last week... oh well, what can you do? It was wonderful to spend time with friends and family, though - and to share Karissa's birthday was amazing... talk to you soon!

Manning Park

On Friday, we went up to Manning Park with Joel's parents. After convincing Karissa that everything was okay, we pulled her along a path in the little sled. She had a lot of fun playing with the snow after she got used to it blowing in her face! It had been awhile since she'd felt snow :) We managed to find little boots that she could wear in the snow - for a bit anyway. Kinda hard to walk in a big fluffy snowsuit, though! (and she wouldn't lose that darn sucky!)
Towards the end of the walk we found a little hill that Karissa loved going down. The first time she went down with someone still holding on to the rope, but then we found that she was doing great keeping her balance, so we let her go all by herself. She had a riot! She would have done that all day, I'm sure. It was a really fun day. One day we'll take our little thrill seeker tubing down the hills that they have there... what a ride that would be!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Karissa was very excited to fly to Abbotsford so she could see her daddy. She missed him so much!
Christmas morning was spent with the Luypen's in Aldergrove. Karissa was spoiled - of course! She couldn't really figure out the whole opening of presents idea, but she sure had fun with the ones she got! And everyone else had fun helping her open her gifts!
Of course there's lots of time to visit out here! We went to Great-Grandma's house for tea one afternoon and Karissa had fun looking at the fibre-optic tree that was rotating on a stand.
Great-Oma got Karissa a Winnie-the-Pooh stuffie that is about as big as her! It's so cute and she has a lot of fun with it :)
So far it has been a great visit out in BC. There are more pics that I will post on another blog - too many for one post! I'll have to wait until naptime again, though - or until everyone gets home and I don't have to worry about what Karissa is getting into! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Hard to believe it's 2007! Where does the time go?
